The mission of the Capital District Armenian Genocide Recognition Committee of New York is to increase the awareness and knowledge of the 1915 Genocide of th 1.6 million Christian Armenians by the Ottoman Turks. The purpose of the Committee is to work in concert with a network or coalition of organizations which promote the Armenian cause. The purpose of the Committee is to demand that the present Turkish government acknowledge the Armenian Genocide. The truth of the Genocide shall be promulgated in the Armenian and non Armenian communities shall be promulgated by sharing, documenting, and distributing the facts of the Genocide. Commemoration of April 24, 1915 Genocide will consist of the following: Visiting local Boards of Education Establishing a Speaker's Bureau to lecture ar local schools, civic, professional, and social organizations to lecture accurate history. Identify political figures who will support our efforts. Presenting films to the general public, especially young adults. Encouraging youngsters to learn the truth. Planning for the Commemoration program at (and in) the NYS Capitol region. Working with the media to educate the community. Raising funds.
